Labor Day Fun with Preschoolers

Labor Day Fun with Preschoolers at Kids 'R' Kids Hamilton Mill, preschool, daycare, childcare

With Labor Day right around the corner, everyone is looking forward to spending their long weekend relaxing and having fun. Here are some great activities for you and your preschooler to enjoy, making it a Labor Day they’ll never forget.

Picnic or cookout

One of the best parts of a vacation in the summer is the food! Cook out or make a fancy picnic for your immediate family. Use this celebratory weekend to make delicious mini snacks like mini hot dogs, fun cookies, and tasty fruit treats. Whether your child has already started school or is waiting until after Labor Day, this can be a memorable last hurrah for summer!

Fly a kite

Your children will get a kick out of flying a colorful kite and watching it soar in the sky. Run back and forth in the backyard with the kite and show them how to set it up while you do it—they’ll learn so much just from this one fun activity. It’s still pretty hot outside in early September, so hook up a water sprinkler and grab a frisbee for even more fun in the sun!

Arts and crafts

You can never go wrong with some themed arts and crafts. Get out the star confetti and paints, and decorate your refrigerator with your children’s artwork. Labor Day normally signifies the end of summer time activities, so why not have your children help put away the summer decorations and start gearing up your house for a festive fall season? Pull out the pumpkins, apples, and leaves, and make your space cozy! Whatever you do, whether it’s pass a ball around outside or watch a movie indoors, take the time to enjoy the long weekend with your family and loved ones.
