Weather Alert Plans
We want everyone to know our plans for managing winter weather problems before they occur so that you are ready to respond accordingly:
- In the event of dangerous weather conditions such as snow or ice, we will post closure information on our Facebook page, on Tadpoles, and on the Remind education app. Our school is listed as Kids ‘R’ Kids Hamilton Mill on this app. Please download the Remind app now so that you will be able to get the information from us. I will also send an email to all of our families.
- For the opening of the school day, if Gwinnett or Hall County Schools do not open or delay opening, we will USUALLY follow what they do. Therefore, if Gwinnett or Hall County schools open 2 hours late, we would potentially open at 10:30 a.m. for students and 10:15 a.m. for teachers. Changes in school time would be communicated to parents by the methods listed above.
- We reserve the right to open or close our school independent of decisions made by Gwinnett or Hall County Schools if we feel it is in the best interests of our families and teachers.
- If weather/road conditions become dangerous during the day, we will close school early. In that event, we will contact all parents about the closure time.
- For safety reasons, if we close before the Gwinnett or Hall County school day ends, we will not pick up students at Patrick and Friendship Elementary schools. We will contact you, and you will need to email your child’s teacher and follow-up with a call to the school to tell them your alternate transportation plan for that day – you picking up at the elementary school or authorizing your child to be put on the county school bus to your home. At Patrick the secretary’s email is [email protected]
- For safety reasons, if we close before the Gwinnett County school day ends, students from Ivy Creek will NOT be brought to our school on the school bus. We will contact you, and you will need to email your child’s teacher and follow-up with a call to the school to tell them your alternative transportation plan for that day – you picking up at the elementary school or authorizing your child to be put on the county school bus to your home. At Ivy Creek, the secretary’s email is [email protected]
