2018 Summer Olympics

2018 Summer Olympics
Legacy West Team

On August 9th, 2018, the students of Kids ‘R’ Kids Legacy West attended the 7th Annual Kids ‘R’ Kids Summer Olympics held at The Star in Frisco. Previously the Olympics have been held at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, but the state-of-the-art facility in Frisco proved to be an amazing venue. Students competed in multiple thrilling, Olympic style events such as the hurdles relay and a sack race. The lively day is a not only a celebration for hard work but also a time to raise awareness for the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children who are dedicated to improving the lives of children.

Scottish Rite Hospital was selected as our charity of choice because they are “a world-renowned leader in the treatment of pediatric orthopedic conditions, sports injuries and fractures, as well as certain related arthritic and neurological disorders and learning disorders, such as dyslexia” (https://scottishritehospital.org/about-us). Scottish Rite provides care to young patients at no cost to their families or insurance companies regardless of their situation. We are overjoyed to have helped raise $17,585.58 alongside 10 other schools for the many deserving patients at Scottish Rite.On August 9th, 2018, the students of Kids ‘R’ Kids Legacy West attended the 7th Annual Kids ‘R’ Kids Summer Olympics held at The Star in Frisco.

The fan-favorite event seemed to be the 50-yard dash, as what child doesn’t love running at top speed against their teachers. Upon conclusion, Kids ‘R’ Kids of West Frisco won the trophy for the most funds raised at $3,625.10, Kids ‘R’ Kids of West McKinney won the trophy for dominating the games, and Kids ‘R’ Kids of East Allen were awarded the spirit stick for being the most enthusiastic and having excellent sportsmanship. Overall the students enjoyed themselves, competing against fellow schools, and ultimately playing for something bigger than themselves. We would like to thank Gym Station for providing and running the events, The Star in Frisco for hosting us, and Scottish Rite Hospital for allowing us to help impact more young lives.
