You can feel it in the air! Summer is here! Though hot days are ahead, there are options for cool treats to enjoy with your preschooler.The following are some ideas to get your wheels spinning for how to enjoy cool treats with your child!
Make banana ice cream!
You can make this treat with just one ingredient, a banana! You or your preschooler can cut up bananas into chunks and then freeze these chunks fully. You can then put these into a blender until you get your desired ice cream texture.
Make fruit or veggie infused water!
With close supervision, your preschooler can help cut up any type of desired fruit or veggie to then infuse in water. Lemons, strawberries, cucumbers are all doable options! You can then put these cut-up pieces in the bottom of a pitcher. Add ice and water. Depending on the desired potency, you can let it set for just a few minutes or overnight! The process is what is fun with this cool treat.
Make popsicles using molds!
You can choose from a variety of colors and styles, compared to decades ago (when parents were the preschoolers). Make a variety of flavors, and you will have cool treats to enjoy with your child for days to come! There are plenty of kid-friendly recipes online.
Have cash on hand for the ice cream truck!
When in doubt, the ice cream truck will bring a guaranteed smile on a hot day. Try to have a few dollars on hand while outside with your child. You never know when the ice cream truck will come near!
