Cold Weather Crafts for Preschoolers

Cold Weather Crafts for Preschoolers at Kids 'R' Kids Hamilton Mill, preschool, daycare, childcare

The winter months can be heart-warming, cozy, and full of time spent indoors with your family, but there is that scary feeling of not being able to keep your child entertained for one second longer without going outside. With these activities you will always have a cute and fun back-up plan! And they all look great as festive décor for your household as well!

Snowman Family

Allow your preschooler to make a snowman just for herself, or make a snowman for mom, dad, grandma, the dog, the neighbor, anyone! All you need to craft these cuties is construction paper, or paper plates (if you want to go BIG), and decorations such as glitter, cotton balls, or anything that’s left over in that random craft drawer of yours. Add one circle for each letter of her name (for each part of the snowman’s body) and one more for the head. These are sure to be a hit with kiddos.

Snowflakes

These snowflakes are wonderful tree decorations and are open to complete interpretation! You can either cut a folded sheet of paper at it’s crease, allowing your preschooler to make his own design, or if he is not quite ready for that amount of scissor handling just yet, cut one-inch wide strips of paper and glue them on top of each other in different directions beforehand, and allow your child to decorate by painting the strips with q-tips! You’ll be walking in a glittery winter wonderland by the end of the day.

Whether you see real snow or not this winter, these crafts will bring the magic of the season indoors and be a hit with your preschooler!
