The weather outside may be frightful, but fun with your preschooler can still be had indoors! When you can’t go outside to play, you have to find creative ways to let your preschooler release some energy. Try one of these ideas the next time the temperatures drop.
Make homemade playdough
Playdough is always a hit, and when you’re stuck inside it’s a great way for your preschooler to have fun and be creative. Try a homemade version that’s quick, easy, and low cost. For a seasonal touch, make white playdough and build unique snowmen together! You can even add sparkling glitter to the dough to create your own shimmering winter playland.
Bake cookies for your local first responders
Spending the day indoors just got a whole lot sweeter! Either homemade or premade, your preschooler will love baking and decorating cookies with you. Teach them about the importance of sharing and giving by taking some to your local first responders as a way to say thanks!
Start a book sharing program
Reading is a great indoor activity that will provide your child with entertainment and an opportunity for enrichment. Gather some friends with children close in age to yours and start a book sharing group where you swap books regularly either in person or through the mail! Your little one will love all the new books he or she has to read!
Don’t let the cold weather stop the fun with your preschooler this year! Let one of these ideas brighten up a winter day!
