It is tough to leave our preschoolers at school or day-care. Most preschool teachers would agree that a relationship with their student’s parents is key to a successful year and their own professional growth. Keep reading for a few things your preschooler’s teacher wish you knew!
We Love Your Child Like Our Own
We are preschool teachers because we really do love children! Loving your child as our own comes from spending so much time with them and watching them grow over the course of a year. However, we know our boundaries and are never trying to replace you!
We Want to Talk to You
We love your child, so we love talking about them! But we also love talking about things other than daycare or preschool. We have hobbies outside of work just like you have hobbies outside of being a parent. We would love the chance to get to know you in addition to getting to know your child.
We Wish You’d Keep Your Sick Child Home
We understand why you want to bring a sick preschooler to school. Work is busy, you’ve taken too much time off, or you have to get things done today. We have all been there, but bringing a sick child to school or daycare can infect the other children and teachers, too. On top of that, we are going to call you in a couple hours when medicine wears off and the symptoms are back.
We Need Your Involvement
We play a lot of roles in our classroom: teacher, friend, mediator, janitor, waitress, and nurse. We prepare our curriculum and classroom before and after your kids are here. We truly love and appreciate any involvement you are able to contribute, whether that is a donation of classroom supplies or your time, we couldn’t do this job without the help of so many amazing parent volunteers. We hope these secrets to what your preschooler’s teacher wants you to know will help comfort you and set you and your child up for a great school year!
