School’s out for summer, and high temperatures are here! There’s nothing like ice-cold lemonade on a summer day, but sometimes it’s not enough to beat the heat. Check out these ways to have a ton of fun this summer with your preschooler while keeping cool.
Have inside fun with your preschooler!
Your child may be dying to head outside and play, but some days it’s just plain hot. Here are a few fun indoor activities to try when it’s too hot to go outside.
- Visit your local park.
- Watch a new movie.
- Create a summer reading list.
- Have an indoor dance party or fashion show.
Go to the pool.
Hot summer days are perfect for hitting the pool. An even better idea? Take a day trip if you live near a lake or beach! Make sure you remember to apply sunscreen, pack towels, and bring those floaties along. Everyone loves spending time in the water. So take a dip, cool off, and enjoy spending time as a family.
Use sunscreen!
Applying sunscreen is a no brainer when taking a trip to the beach or a dip in the pool, but did you know the sun’s UV rays can affect your child’s skin on any given day? Summertime is perfect for outdoor fun, but spending time in the sun without protection is dangerous. Use sunscreen, wear protective clothing, and even throw on a hat. You won’t regret it!
Stay hydrated.
Drinking water and staying hydrated is a necessity during those hot summer months. If your youngster is resistant to drinking multiple glasses of water throughout the day, try adding fresh fruit like strawberries or blueberries to add natural sweetener to your hydrating beverage. You can also keep plastic water bottles in the freezer, which melt into an icy delight when you’re on the go.
When in doubt, swim it out. Those June through August days will fly by with these fun summer tips and activities.
