Handmade gifts hold a special magic, especially when crafted by little hands!
With liquid watercolors, kids transform paper towels into beautiful blooms, building creativity and fine motor skills. This fun activity also teaches patience, problem-solving, and the joy of giving. Whether shared or displayed, these thoughtful creations spread love and brighten someone’s day!
Materials:
– Paper towels
– Liquid watercolors (pink, red, and purple)
– Medicine droppers
– Glue
– Green straws or pipe cleaners
– Clear tape
– Ice cube tray
– Baking sheet
– Cooling rack
Directions:
1. Protect the work area with a plastic cloth or use a cookie sheet. Pour watercolors into an ice cube tray.
2. Use a medicine dropper to color three paper towel sheets until fully saturated, then dry them on a cooling rack or with a hairdryer.
3. Cut each dry sheet in half lengthwise, creating six long strips. Apply glue along one long edge, fold, and press to form the top of the rose.
4. Crumple the strips for texture, then smooth out. Angle a green straw (or pipe cleaner) at one end, rolling to trap the paper towel.
5. Twist the straw while pinching the base, wrapping the towel around as you go. Add more strips as needed and continue rolling.
6. Secure the base with tape, fluff the petals, and display your rose or create a bouquet!
