Snack: Sweet Apple Nachos

The best treat is one that can be shared, and these sweet apple nachos are the perfect snack for two, especially when half the fun is making them. Simply slice an apple, let your child mix the nut butter mixture, and sprinkle on the toppings any way he or she likes. Encourage your child to count the apple slices, describe the textures, and be in charge of clean-up to help build confidence.
Ingredients:
– 1-2 Apples of your choice
– 1 tbsp peanut butter (or alternative)
– Pinch of cinnamon
– Maple syrup or honey
– Dark chocolate chips
– Dried cranberries
– Raw chopped almonds (optional)
Directions:
– Cut the core out of the apple
– Cut the apple into thin slices and arrange on a plate
– Add water to peanut butter one teaspoon at a time until it reaches a drizzling consistency
– Add a pinch of cinnamon to the mixture
– Drizzle peanut butter mixture over the apples
– Add toppings
– Drizzle maple syrup or honey on top
