Through gluing pom-poms, arranging Q-tips, and cutting cardboard, they’re strengthening fine motor skills and exploring symmetry and balance—key elements of early math and science. It’s also a perfect time to discuss the beauty of winter and how each snowflake is unique, just like we are! This craft also teaches emotional resilience. Materials:

  • Cardboard
  • Q-tips
  • Scissors
  • Acrylic paint
  • Tacky glue
  • Small white pom-poms
  • Hole puncher
  • String

Instructions:

1. Cut circles out of cardboard.

2. Paint the cardboard circles.

3. Glue a white pom-pom to the center of your cardboard circle.

4. Attach the Q-tip pieces to the cardboard.

5. Hole punch the top of the cardboard to make a hole for the string.

6. Tie your string through the hole.

7. Hang the snowflake on your Christmas tree or attach it to a gift!
