Craft: Frog Puppet

Make your own DIY puppet!

Springtime is a wonderful time to explore the natural world, so why not celebrate the end of winter by creating this funny frog puppet? Teach your child about the amazing transformation of a tadpole into a frog while magically folding a piece of paper into a frog that comes alive!

Materials:

  • Green construction paper
  • Red construction paper
  • White paper
  • Black paper
  • Black marker
  • Glue stick
  • Scissors 

Directions:

  • Fold green construction paper horizontally two-thirds of the way up the paper. Take the top third of the paper and use the glue stick to glue the top third to the bottom two-thirds piece
  • Fold the paper in half
  • Fold the top piece halfway back to the crease, and repeat on the bottom half to create the body of the puppet
  • Cut a strip of green paper and make a round cut at one end of this fold & cut in half for eyes
  • Bend ends of these two pieces and glue to top of puppet
  • Add eyes to the green pieces
  • Cut red construction paper in long strip and make a round cut at one end
  • Glue the non-cut end on the lower side of the puppet’s mouth
  • Make a curl using the black marker for the tongue 
  • Draw two circles on the end of the puppet for the nose
