Welcome spring with a fun and creative pipe cleaner butterfly ring craft!

This simple activity strengthens fine motor skills, boosts imagination, and encourages self-expression. Twisting and shaping the pipe cleaners helps prepare little hands for tasks like buttoning and writing, while crafting together fosters meaningful family connections. Just like butterflies in nature, kids can create, grow, and enjoy the magic of spring through hands-on play!

Materials:

– 2 colorful pipe cleaners (12 inches long)

– 1 black pipe cleaner (6 inches long)

–  Scissors (for adult use only)

Directions:

1. Twist the two longer pipe cleaners together in the middle about 4–5 times. Place the twisted section under your finger to size the ring, ensuring both sides are even. Remove and twist the base a few more times to secure it. Adjust if needed.

2. Spread out the four pipe cleaner ends to form wings. Roll each end into a tight spiral, making sure the spirals on each side face inward to help maintain the wing shape. Gently bend and shape the wings, tucking the smaller bottom wings behind the top ones.

3. Place the black pipe cleaner behind the butterfly’s body, wrapping it around the center and twisting above the wings to hold everything in place.

4. Trim the black pipe cleaner if needed, then curl the ends into loose spirals to create the antennae.
