One of the best parts about summer? Going to the beach! Making sure kids are well taken care of at the beach, though, is a whole other story. It’s important to remember everything you need to bring with you to make a day at the beach fun: sunscreen, bug spray, a change of clothes, towels, a beach blanket, toys, snacks, water – and so much more! And if the toys fail to keep your kids entertained, you’ll need to prevent them from turning to screen time.
Below is our list of the most fun beach activities you can enjoy with kids – and adults – of all ages:
Mini Golf
Bring the excitement of mini golf to the beach by setting up a makeshift course in the sand. Use buckets, cones, or even driftwood to create obstacles and challenges. Let kids take turns navigating the course and keep score for a friendly competition.
Kite Flying
Take advantage of the wind by flying a kite on the beach. Encourage creativity by decorating the kite with markers or stickers before flying it high above the waves.
Limbo
As with any other activity, be careful! Our adult backs are not what they used to be. Get everyone moving and grooving with a game of beach limbo. Use a beach towel or a piece of driftwood as the limbo bar and challenge each other to see who can bend low.
Tug of War
Divide into teams and place bets on who will win a classic game of tug of war. The winning team gets dinner courtesy of the other team.
Castle Building
Let your creative side shine with a sandcastle building competition. Arm yourselves with buckets, shovels, and sculpting tools, and let imaginations run wild as you construct elaborate sandcastles along the shoreline. Award prizes for the most creative design or tallest tower.
With just a little prep and a lot of joy, a day at the beach can be an unforgettable adventure. Pack your beach bag, gather up your family, and get ready for a day of sun, sand, and endless fun!
