Bedtime can be one of the hardest times of the day, but it doesn’t have to be! By establishing a routine that works for you and your preschooler, night time woes can be gone for good!
The first step in any bedtime routine that you establish is to stick to it. If bedtime is a strict 7 o’clock, try to compromise as little as possible. It may seem daunting to think that your little one has to be in bed by that time every night, but you can find ways to fit things in around it. Needing a date night with your spouse? Put your preschooler to bed and then have a babysitter come over immediately after so you can enjoy a night out of the house!
Make bedtime fun by involving the whole family! Whether you all read a book together or establish some other nightly ritual together, your little one will love spending the last awake minutes of every day with the ones they love most!
Lastly, it’s important to recognize when a new routine isn’t working. If the routine becomes too strict for you or your preschooler, don’t be afraid to change it! Finding something that truly works for everyone will be well worth it in the end.
Bedtime no longer has to be dreaded, nor does it have to last hours. Make it part of your preschooler’s day that they look forward to by incorporating these easy ideas!
