Winter Fun at Home for Active Preschoolers

Winter Fun at Home for Active Preschoolers at Kids 'R' Kids Suwanee, preschool, daycare, childcare

January can be a difficult month for families with young and energetic children, because the cold weather often leaves you and your child stuck indoors with limited sources of entertainment. Here is a list of activities for children that we know to be fun and enjoyable for the whole family during the winter months.

  1. Build a snowman. If you live in an area that gets snowfall in January, take advantage of it and build a snowman with the family. You can also decorate the snowman together. Get your child’s input on what he or she thinks the snowman should wear, and even be named.
  2. Ice skating is an activity that you can enjoy no matter what climate you live in. Many warmer climate cities have indoor ice-skating rinks and may offer lessons for preschoolers. Ice-skating is fun and is great exercise for the whole family.
  3. Build an indoor obstacle course. If the weather is too cold for your child to be outdoors, you can build an indoor obstacle course that will allow your child to burn off some energy while having fun.
  4. Have an indoor snowball fight. Get a set of fake snowballs or make your own with wadded up pieces of paper. Make your “snow forts” for protection from incoming snowballs, and then start the fight! It will be a blast!
