Sometimes it is just too hot to play outside! While our preschoolers love it, we want to make sure they are safe more than anything. It can be easy to turn on the TV or a movie, but why not try these activities? We hope you find that they are engaging and will create lasting memories. Here are some indoors ideas that are so much fun your preschooler won’t even miss being outside!
Play an indoor game
Hide and Go Seek is a classic game that is easy to play indoors! Other fun games and activities, such as building a fort, doing a scavenger hunt, or having cleaning competitions, will keep them occupied for hours. Who says being inside means you can’t have fun?!
Make a fun snack
Let your child help you make a snack! Give them some ideas and let them pick which they would like to do! Some of our favorite summer snacks are lemonade from scratch, cookies in summer shapes, or making popsicles out of fruit and yogurt. We also love using milk and ice cream salt to easily make homemade ice cream.
Bring out the board games
Board games used to be the go-to for many families, but technology has taken over! Dust off those board games like Candyland, Hi Ho Cherry-O, Chutes and Ladders, or Go Fish. You and your child will have so much fun playing the games together!
Do a science experiment
Learning doesn’t have to stop just because school is out for the summer! There are tons of science experiments online for preschoolers that are easy to do. Additionally, most of them can be done with things from the grocery store! If you’re lucky, you might even find some of the supplies lying around your house.
Just because your child needs to be inside due to the heat doesn’t mean they won’t have fun! They will love these activities, but most of all they will love making memories and spending time with you.
When all else fails, keep them busy with chores!
