Valentine’s Day is a wonderful time to celebrate the love of friends.

A Valentine’s Friendship Party for preschoolers can be filled with activities that not only entertain but also teach valuable lessons about friendship and kindness. Here are some engaging ideas to make your party a success.

  1. Friend-Themed Obstacle Course: Set up a simple obstacle course that children can navigate in pairs. Each obstacle can represent a friendship challenge, like helping each other or solving a puzzle together.
  2. Heart Balloon Pop: Fill heart-shaped balloons with slips of paper that have kind acts or friendship messages written on them. Kids can pop the balloons and read the messages aloud to the group.
  3. Friendship Salad: Have a healthy and interactive activity where kids create a ‘friendship salad’ by adding different fruits. Each fruit can represent a quality of a good friend, like sweetness or being refreshing.
  4. ‘Pass the Heart’ Game: Similar to ‘hot potato,’ but with a soft heart-shaped pillow. When the music stops, the child holding the heart can say something nice about another child in the circle.
  5. Friendship Hat Crafting: Provide materials for kids to create and decorate their own hats. Once completed, they can exchange hats with a friend, symbolizing the exchange of friendly thoughts and feelings.
  6. Valentine’s Day Scavenger Hunt: Organize a scavenger hunt with clues that lead to various stations with friendship-related activities or challenges.
  7. ‘Feelings’ Freeze Dance: Play a game of freeze dance where the music represents different emotions. When the music stops, children can express the emotion the music was conveying.
  8. Kindness Bingo with a Twist: Create a bingo game where each square has an act of kindness or a positive trait. Kids can mark a square once they’ve demonstrated or witnessed that act.
  9. Friendship Circle Art: Have a large canvas where each child contributes to a painting or drawing. This collective artwork will symbolize the beauty and diversity of their friendships.
  10. Goodbye Hugs or Handshakes: As the party winds down, encourage each child to give a hug, handshake, or a friendly wave goodbye to each friend, reinforcing the connections made during the party.

A Valentine’s Friendship Party is an excellent opportunity to teach our preschoolers about the importance of friendship and kindness. Through these fun and interactive activities, we can help nurture these values in a memorable and enjoyable way.
