Tips to Manage Your Child’s Holiday Excitement

Tips to Manage Your Child’s Holiday Excitement at Kids 'R' Kids Landstar, Daycare, childcare, preschool, learning academy

It’s that time of the year again! Your kids may or may not be on a constant sugar high and are still recovering from the Halloween festivities. Celebrating holidays is fun to begin with, and it can be even more fun with children! However, this time of the year can go from calm to chaos in a short period of time. From Christmas parties, Thanksgiving and Friendsgiving dinners, and all the shopping, it’s no secret that your kids’ excitement levels reach an all-time high during this time of year. Have no fear! Here are some tips to manage your child’s holiday excitement.

Keep up a Routine

As hard as it seems to stay calm in this busy season, it’s wise to stick to a routine. Maintaining a stable routine will help your children stay a bit calmer in the midst of all the craziness. Try to have mealtimes around the same time every day. Another great idea is to keep a consistent bedtime schedule. Your kiddos will feel a whole lot better if they are getting the recommended amount of sleep. That full night’s worth of sleep will also keep mom and dad sane!

Down Time

Try scheduling downtime in-between events or hectic days. After a long day of running holiday errands, your kiddo will need some rest of some type to cope with their stress and excitement. Whether it’s watching a 30-minute television show or taking a nap, times of rest will ultimately be helpful for the whole family.

Shopping Trips and Tips

With the holidays in full swing, you may find yourself at the mall or your local Target more often than you would like. Your kiddo may love shopping, but they can only take so much of the crowds and long lines. In order to prevent this, strategically plan your shopping trips. It might be a good idea for you to hire a babysitter during some of these shopping visits. Online shopping is also a wonderful tool! It might be best to avoid going down that toy aisle with your children. Avoid the hassle if possible!

May you and your family’s holiday season be merry and bright!
