Easier Meal Planning for Parents
What makes creating meals a cinch? Having a good plan. And what makes for a good plan? Having a solid knowledge of “do’s” and “don’ts”! Here are some of those “do’s” and “don’ts”, in the hope of helping you to create the perfect meal planning routine!
Do: Ample Space in Fridge. There’s nothing more frustrating than working to create meals for each weekday only to find there isn’t enough room in the fridge for those meals! Work to keep your delicious, just-made meals safe by ensuring there is room for them.
Don’t: Over-commit. While creating incredible, complex sushi and delicious, homemade bread would be amazing, be realistic about the amount of time and energy you have. An easy, healthy meal like scrambled eggs and sliced avocado is just as satisfying.
Do: Start an Inspiration Page. Whether a board on Pinterest or a playlist on YouTube, find a place to save meal planning ideas and tips, as well as new recipes. It’s easy to run out of ideas and motivation on our own, but having a helpful inspiration page can prevent this.
Don’t: Overuse Meals. While it may be tempting, overusing a meal can prevent your child from being interested in eating the food you have worked so hard to make. By cycling through various meals, your child is more likely to enjoy the delicious, healthy food you have made and the time that went into making it.
Do: Have a Meal Swap. If you have a friend who is also interested in meal-planning and if it is convenient, consider swapping some of the meals you have made for the week with theirs, so everyone has more options without having to cook more.
Creating delicious, healthy food doesn’t have to be a struggle. It can be both rewarding and great fun! For more information on meal planning, the following search terms can be used:
