Heading Back to Preschool After the Holidays

With back to school just around the corner, now is the time to get your preschoolers back on their routine to make the first day of school as easy as possible. Here are some ways to get your preschooler on their back to school routine so smoothly, they won’t even know it’s happening.

Start Early

Don’t wait til the last minute to start your back-to-school schedule. Over the break, talk regularly about going back to school and how soon it is before school starts so it’s not a surprise. Make sure your kiddos are getting enough sleep and going to bed at their regular time days in advance so they’re not awake and restless all night before their first day back.

Stay Positive

Remind your preschoolers of all their favorite things to look forward to when school starts. Aren’t they happy to see all their friends again? Make school something they can’t wait to run back to when the break is over.

Get Organized

Being as organized as possible is one of the best ways to ensure a smooth morning before the first day back. Make lunches beforehand, pack backpacks the night before, map out everyone’s schedule for the week, and set alarms as needed.

It’s The Little Things

Does your preschooler need anything new for the next semester? Let them pick them out. Have them pick out a new breakfast or snack to take with them every day. Don’t let them have their new stuff until the first day of school. It’s the little things that make starting fresh so fun!

Some children get nervous about going back to school, but once they get there, all the nerves disappear. Getting on their school routine early and reminding them of all the things they love about school will help calm their jitters and have them walking confidently into their classroom on the first day back.
