Picnics with Your Preschoolers

Picnics with your preschoolers

July is National Picnic Month! Picnics are a great way to get outdoors and enjoy spending quality time with your preschooler. Here are a few ideas for how you can celebrate this month with lots of picnics with your preschoolers!

Have a picnic group! Get together with a few of your preschooler’s friends and their parents to have picnics at different places. Think of this as a play date, but picnic-style. Each family can bring a different part of the meal each week and enjoy spending time together outside!

Spontaneously eat outside one morning! A great way to surprise your little one with a picnic is to have a breakfast picnic with them as soon as they wake up! Gather all the essentials like a blanket, some fun music, and the food, and then go get your child up out of bed. They will be so excited to have breakfast outside in their pajamas! As an added bonus, mornings are a great time to be outside during the summer because of the cooler temperatures!

Let your little one choose all the food for a picnic! Take your child with you to the grocery store one day and let them choose some ready-to-eat foods for a picnic outside. Make sure your meal doesn’t end up being five kinds of cookies, but let them decide from a select group of items. Then, head to a park and enjoy an afternoon in the sunshine.

Make sure to get outside this July and enjoy all that summer and picnics have to offer!
