Valentine’s Day can be full of love and joy no matter the age! Sometimes the easiest way to spread love is to simply be kind to others. How can we make sure to do this on Valentine’s Day? Maybe you create Valentine’s Day cards for seniors at the local senior center or send a care package to local vets. You never know just how lonely a day can be for someone — perhaps they’ve recently lost their loved one or simply need a reason to smile. Kids have a superpower when it comes to brightening days.
For the Next Best Bakers
If you go online and do a simple “Valentine’s Day recipe” search, you’ll be bombarded with adorable options. Maybe you and your kiddos plan to make a special heart-shaped breakfast for the whole family. Or special treats to take to dance class, sports practice, or even just to a friend’s house. The benefit of baking with your kids is it’s an act of love in and of itself — you’ll be able to bond and create a labor of love for someone else.
For the Aspiring Van Goughs
Similar to the numerous baking options out there, there are also several cute Valentine’s Day themed crafts. A classic, low-effort (and low-mess) craft that is a favorite amongst kids and parents alike, is making a heart garland. Simply cut some red, pink, purple (or any color really!) paper into strips. Then interlace them and staple or glue them together so each ring looks like a heart.
Another great option that is sure to make your kids happy is to assist them in making a card for mom, dad, grandma, grandpa — whoever! This is a great opportunity for them to express their creativity and appreciation for a loved one near and dear to them. This is sure to encourage love, joy, and kindness around this time of year.
