Florida is committed to its future – your children! The state’s Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) program is free, not income-based, and gives all children the opportunity to experience early education by enrolling in a qualified center. VPK provides children a top-quality early learning experience at participating private and faith-based child care centers, many public schools, and Head Start sites, as well as licensed family child care homes.
Florida residents can enroll their 4 year old children in the center of their choice in either a school year program with 540 instructional hours or a summer program that includes 300 instructional hours. All VPK programs are required to maintain a ratio of no more than 11 students per teacher. This means every child will get an appropriate level of one-on-one time to encourage social & academic development. Children with special needs receive Specialized Instructional Services in a smaller group setting, which is a bonus.

The VPK program is not glorified babysitting! This incredible program features curriculum that helps develop academics, social skills, communication skills, and foster independence. Students are provided access to qualified instructors and age-appropriate curriculum that focuses on early literacy skills.
