Can you believe that it’s almost 2020? 2019 has certainly flown by, and your family is most likely ready to kick off the new year with a fun, fresh start. New Year’s Resolutions are a motivating way to start on a new leaf. However, these newly-found goals can sometimes be too ambitious and end shortly after the second week of January. It doesn’t have to be that way! Resolutions are a great way to get all of your family involved in something bigger than yourselves. Check out these attainable, creative family ideas for New Year’s Resolutions. 

Volunteer Work 

Volunteer work is a wonderful way to bring your family together for a meaningful cause. Whether your goal is to volunteer once during the year or once every month, this is an awesome way to build up your children’s character and have that special bonding time. There are countless volunteer opportunities. From visiting a nursing home to delivering meals to those in need, it won’t be hard for your family to tackle this resolution in 2020! 

Less Screentime 

The sad truth about the recent decade is that families have grown more attached to their electronic devices than ever before. Make this the year that your family doesn’t turn on the TV or pick up their cell phone during a meal. Replace screen time with quality family time. Whether it’s going on a walk without any electronics or simply shutting off all electronics after a certain time in the evening, this goal will be worth it. This new year is the perfect time to start implementing these practices before they become habits. 

Healthy Living 

Make an effort this year to eat cleaner and healthier as a whole family. Do not feel the need to change your whole diet right away because this will fade quickly. Instead of making a drastic change, start with small tweaks in your everyday life. Instead of giving your family the option of getting soda at a restaurant, get waters instead. If your family is really big into eating out, then try to eat out one meal less each week. These basic changes will go a long way!
