Staying inside all day is a difficult – if not nearly impossible – task when you have a preschooler! So when a rainy day strikes, some parents may be dismayed. Not to fear, though. With these fun activities, even the most energetic preschooler can enjoy a rainy day!
Build a pillow fort
Sometimes you just can’t beat the classics! You and your child can rearrange some chairs and a blanket to make a simple fort, or get ambitious with pillows, cushions, and chip bag clips to make a pillow castle! Your preschooler will be entertained for hours playing inside their fort. After all, everything is more fun in a pillow fort!
Do some arts & crafts
Bust out the craft supplies! There’s no better time than a rainy day to create some artwork. Gather up some paper, crayons, markers, or even play-doh and let your preschooler go to town. You can even make it a collaborative project and work together to make something special.
Visit your local library
Brave the rain for a trip to your local library! Share the simple joy of reading on a rainy day with your preschooler. Let your child pick out a book, or multiple books! Not only will you be keeping your child entertained on a rainy day, you’ll also be inspiring a lifelong love of learning and encouraging your child’s literacy.
Rainy days don’t have to be dull or boring. Whether you choose to stay inside or go out for a rainy day adventure, you can make the most of a rainy day with your preschooler. With these activities, your child will be excitedly awaiting the next time it rains!
