Ending Summer on a High Note with Your Preschooler

Ending Summer on a High Note with Your Preschooler at Kids 'R' Kids Tomball, preschool, daycare, childcare

The carefree days of summer with your preschooler are sadly coming to an end. Make the most of the last few days or weeks you have with your little one by trying something new. These activities are sure to help you and your preschooler end summer on a high note!

Yes Day

Do you feel like you are constantly telling your preschooler “no?” How about planning a day where you do not tell your preschooler “no” all day long? As scary as it sounds, it can become a day filled with fun memories for you and your preschooler. The idea is to give your preschooler the freedom to do whatever he desires (within reason) for an entire day. If your preschooler has a tendency to dream big, you may want to set a limit on how far you are willing to travel and how much money you are able to spend. For more information on how to host a “Yes Day” for your preschooler, check out this blog.

Campout

Gather your camping supplies and set up camp in the backyard. Read the book “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt” by Michael Rosen and then go on a bear hunt in your backyard. Spend some time roasting hotdogs and marshmallows over the fire while making up stories. Your preschooler will love staying up late enjoying the outdoors even if it is in your own backyard!

Neighborhood Party

Talk to other parents in the neighborhood and plan a fun get-together with the neighborhood kids. Work with other parents to plan fun games for the children to play and a fun craft as a keepsake to remember the event. If planning a variety of games seems too daunting, plan a group game, such as baseball where parents versus kids. If you don’t live in a neighborhood where hosting a get-together is an option, get a group of your preschooler’s friends together and spend the day at the pool. Your preschooler will have fun playing with her friends while you get a chance to catch up with the other parents.

Go on a Date

Take your preschooler on a date to celebrate the end of summer. Let him choose the activities and spend the day soaking up the time you have with him and creating memories. Your preschooler is sure to enjoy the special time with his favorite adult!
