Valentine’s Day brings thoughts of candy for most of us. However, valentines do not have to be sugary. You can show your preschooler how much you love her with a sugar-free valentine! We have a few suggestions below for you to give you preschooler as a sugar-free valentine this year.
Fruit Kabobs
Choose fruits that are hues of red and pink to create a Valentine’s Day kabob. Start by cutting red grapes and strawberries into bite size pieces. If you are using fruits that are not red or pink, but want to still give that Valentine’s Day vibe, use a heart cookie cutter to cut the fruit into hearts. Once you have your fruit prepared, thread it onto skewers in a pattern. You can add a few mini marshmallows or banana chunks for contrast.
Sweet Sayings
Use a permanent marker to add messages to the peel of fruits (i.e. oranges and bananas). It may seem silly, but your preschooler will feel loved when he sees the sweet message.
Experiences
Give the gift of an experience and time. Plan a special activity with your preschooler. Take her to a studio to paint pottery or attend a paint class. You both will treasure the memories and the final products! Alternatively, grab some art supplies and create a special craft at home. Toys
Yes, Christmas was just a couple months ago, but preschoolers always appreciate a new toy. Look for accessories for toys your preschooler received for Christmas (e.g. an outfit for her new doll, a train to add to his train track).
Kits
Put together a kit to create something with your preschooler. Playdough and slime are fun to make at home and your preschooler will love the experience of making and playing with it! If science is more your preschooler’s jam, put together a kit to make a volcano.
