Cloud in a Jar
Explore weather science with this exciting visual experiment.
What you need: A jar, hot water, ice, and hairspray.
How it works: Fill the jar with hot water, then spray hairspray inside the jar. Cover the jar with a lid or plate holding ice on top. In moments, a “cloud” will form inside the jar! This simple experiment demonstrates condensation and helps children understand how clouds develop in the sky.
Magnet Exploration
Introduce preschoolers to the magic of magnetism with this sensory activity.
What you need: A magnet and small objects such as paper clips, cotton balls, and coins.
How it works: Encourage your child to guess which items will stick to the magnet before testing each one. This hands-on activity builds early prediction skills while introducing key science concepts like attraction and polarity.
Growing a Bean Sprout
Teach children about plant science with this easy growing project.
What you need: A clear cup, paper towel, water, and a dry bean.
How it works: Dampen the paper towel and place it inside the cup, pressing a bean against the side. Put the cup in a sunny spot and observe it daily as roots and sprouts begin to grow. This activity teaches children about plant life cycles and the importance of sunlight and water.
