Staying inside all day is difficult – if not nearly impossible – when you have a preschooler. So when a rainy day strikes, some parents may worry. But do not be dismayed! With these fun activities, even the most energetic preschooler can enjoy a rainy day!
Create something
Set up an arts & crafts table for your preschooler with paper, crayons, markers, and other materials, and encourage your child to create whatever their imagination desires.
Play some indoor games
For more active children, there are lots of great indoor games. Try hide-and-seek or Simon Says. If that doesn’t succeed in getting all their energy out, try a dance party! Put on some of your child’s favorite music and dance along!
Have a movie day
Gloomy, rainy weather makes for the perfect day to snuggle up and get cozy indoors! Pop some popcorn, pile on the blankets, and put on an age-appropriate movie. The rumbling rain outside will make for the perfect ambience for a movie day.
Go outside anyway
Even just a short trip into the rain can be a big adventure! Make sure your preschooler is geared up with rainboots, jacket, and a hat, then head outside to puddle jump! It may not seem like much to you, but your preschooler will delight in the novelty of carrying their umbrella and splashing around on the sidewalk.
Rainy days don’t have to be boring! With these four activities, you and your preschooler will be sure to make the most of a rainy day!
