If you are looking for ways to celebrate Library Month with your preschooler, one great way to do so is simple– by taking a trip to the library! This is a great opportunity to introduce your child to all the wonderful resources the library has to offer, including books, magazines, CDs, and more. Below are a few tips to help make your trip to the library a success:
Preview The Trip.
Before you go, take some time to show your child pictures of the library, both inside and out. Talk about all the fun things you’ll be able to do there, such as reading and checking out books.
Start With a Storytime.
Most libraries offer regular storytime sessions for young children. This is a great way to introduce your child to the library atmosphere and get them excited about all the books they’ll be able to check out.
Let Them Choose.
Once you are settled in at the library, let your child choose which books they want to look at or check out. This will help them feel empowered and engaged in the library visit.
