Sugar-Free Valentines for Your Preschooler

Sugar-Free Valentines for Your Preschooler at Kids 'R' Kids Suwanee, preschool, daycare, childcare

When we think of Valentine’s Day, we often think of the different candies that are sold. However, as the day approaches, you may be looking for alternatives to those sugary sweets. With a little bit of creativity, you can make this Valentine’s Day special for your preschooler, but with less sugar. Here are a few easy ideas for sugar-free valentines for your preschooler:

Sweet Simplicity

There are endless options for valentines that do not require candy. Many preschoolers enjoy simply having a new pencil. By attaching a pencil to pink, red, or white construction paper, your preschooler can have a simple valentine sure to win the heart of many classmates.

Create Cards

For a ridiculously silly idea, your preschooler could make whoopee cushion valentine cards. You will need cardstock, mini whoopee cushions, screw punch, and string or twine. Whoopee cushion valentines need not be for just little boys but rather anyone that enjoys playfulness.

Silly Stuff

Drink up this next Valentine idea. “Sip Sip Hooray! It’s Valentine’s Day!” This idea uses a cardstock printout and a silly straw. If you struggle to find silly straws, this valentine can also be made by attaching the printout to a small beverage such as a juice box – preferably one with no sugar added.

Bug Business

Is your preschooler a budding Entomologist? If so, she is sure to enjoy a valentine that incorporates bugs. This valentine only needs colored cardstock and plastic bugs. If you want to dress things up a little, you could also use glitter. It is a simple project that can warm the heart of any love bug.

Balloon Bonanza

Finally, here’s a valentine that will lift you off your feet by using a balloon. This valentine is very adorable but does require more work and time. To craft this personal valentine you need a photo of your preschooler, cardstock, colored balloons, and an x-acto knife. Evaluate where you would like the balloon to rest in relation to your child, cut two small slits, and weave in the balloon.

Though it takes some time and a little work, it can be easy and fun to help your preschooler make sugar-free valentines this year. I am sure the candy will not be missed because these valentines are sweet enough on their own. Happy Valentine’s Day!
