With summer approaching, the days will be filled with many hours for preschoolers to play outside in the sun. Playing outside in the sun can be a lot of fun, but it can also make preschoolers very hot. How about a refreshing treat to cool her off? These treats can range from simple to more complicated, but they all are sure to put a smile on your preschooler’s face and keep her refreshed.

Store-bought treats

  1. Ice cream
  2. Fruit and Veggie Popsicles
  3. Jell-O
  4. Fruit or veggies with dips

Treats with minimal work

  1. Slushies
  2. Frozen grapes 
  3. Chocolate milk
  4. Smoothies
  5. Milkshakes
  6. Sliced watermelon
  7. Creatures made from fruits and veggies. Try a ladybug, crab, dragonfly, or even ants on a log.

Treats from the freezer

  1. Frozen hot chocolate
  2. Frozen yogurt bites
  3. Homemade ice cream sandwiches
  4. Frozen melon kebabs
  5. Frozen berry kebabs
  6. Chocolate covered frozen bananas
  7. Frozen fruit in water or flavored soda water
  8. Watermelon pops made from watermelon triangles that have skewered on a popsicle stick and chilled.
  9. Yogurt covered Cheerios

Treats from the refrigerator

  1. Jell-O Jigglers
  2. Yogurt parfaits
  3. Cucumber slices topped with tuna or chicken salad
  4. Strawberry and cheese kebabs
  5. Fruit kebabs or cups
  6. Strawberry pops are made by removing the stem, cutting an X at the strawberry’s tip, opening the tip, and filling it with whipped cream and graham cracker crumbs. 
  7. Apple nachos can be made with apple slices that have been drizzled with peanut butter or chocolate.
  8. A Chunky Monkey Milkshake which uses 1.5 cups of milk, 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder, 2 tablespoons of peanut butter, and one banana.

Non-food treats

  1. Sprinkler play
  2. A water table
  3. Water balloon fights

It is important to ensure that your preschooler does not become too hot while playing outside. Remember to drink plenty of fluids and take frequent breaks. Whether you grab premade treats from the store or make your own, your preschooler is sure to love different ways to stay cool this summer.
