With summertime upon us, there are so many great options for fun with water! Build a waterslide, fill and throw water balloons, or run through the yard with squirt guns. Try one out with your preschooler this summer.
Build a giant water slide with your preschooler.
Waterslides are a blast for preschoolers, and all you need are a few simple supplies. First, you need a somewhat level and rock-free piece of land. Next, take a plastic tarp and lay it over the rock-free area. Then, drizzle a whole bottle of dish soap over the tarp. Drag a running water hose over to the tarp, and let the water flow in the direction that kids will be sliding. Slide away!
Let your preschooler burst water balloons.
Water balloons are a great summer activity, but beware: you will probably get hammered with at least one balloon before they’re all gone. Let your preschooler help you out with the balloon filling process, and then turn them loose to launch the balloons. Throw them at each other, and play balloon toss! Keep taking a step back after every toss, and see how far apart you can get before someone drops the balloon.
Turn your preschooler loose with water squirt toys and sprinklers.
The swimming section at your local supermarket will carry several options on the squirt toys that are available this year. If you don’t want to go to the pool to play with them, just fill up a bucket of water in the yard for refills. If you want to make it extra fun, fill up the bucket with ice and water, and have squirt wars on those hot summer days. It will be a lot of fun, and it will provide much needed relief from the summer sun.
