Spring Break Family Staycation Ideas

Spring Break Family Staycation Ideas

If you and your family are looking for a break from the day-to-day routine, but budgets or other constraints are keeping you from taking a vacation to a distant or exotic location, there are plenty of ways to have a staycation with your preschooler. With spring break vacations just around the corner, start planning your staycation now with these great ideas.

Have a backyard campout!

You don’t have to go to a national park or an official campground to enjoy sleeping under the stars! Set up a tent in your own backyard and load it up with sleeping bags, blankets, lanterns, and snacks. Read stories, play card games, and get the full camping experience without leaving your own neighborhood.

Hotel Stay

If sleeping indoors is more your family’s style, pack up the family and stay at a local hotel overnight! Staying at a hotel is exciting for younger children (and preschoolers especially), and always feels so fancy and extravagant! As an added bonus, most hotels will have an indoor pool or hot tub so that you can pack the bathing suits even if the weather isn’t hot enough for the beach yet.

Explore your city!

Most of the time we are so busy in our everyday life that we don’t even realize how much our own community has to offer. Scope out museums, parks, and shopping experiences in the city you live in and enjoy being a tourist in your own city.

Movie Night

Turn your living room into a home theatre and have a family movie night with popcorn, snacks, and a favorite movie. Turn off all the lights and enjoy the theatre experience in your own home.

All of these ideas will make your staycation memorable!
