You may be surprised to learn that your preschooler has a natural ability for art that reflects their own unique personality. Get your little one involved in art, and watch their opinions form and mold. Here are some ideas to get you started.
Learn about famous artists online.
The best way to learn art is to study the professionals. Let your little one see art from all eras and ask them what they think the artist wanted to say with their piece of art. Show them Picasso, Da Vinci, Michelangelo, and the other greats. They will become familiar with each of their styles from a young age.
Read to your preschooler about a famous artist.
Find books about historical artists that you can read with your preschooler. Read some like Linnea in Monet’s Garden, or Leonardo and the Flying Boy. Letting your little one see into the lives of these artists will give them a glimpse into the meanings that their works carry. Let them learn about Picasso when he was a little boy, and they will be able to relate more to the artists when they realize that even the great painters were once children too.
Let your preschooler replicate a piece of art.
