Benefits of Imaginary Play

Benefits of Imaginary Play

Imaginary Play is something that you should embrace as a parent. Your child experiences a multitude of benefits when participating in imaginary play at an early age. From social skills to decision making, your little one is maturing before your eyes! Here are a few of the best benefits of imaginary play:

Little Boss

A child’s imagination can truly run wild in the matter of minutes! You’ll never know what role they are going to take on during playtime. They might pretend to be a bakery owner one day, and a nurse the next day. The options are endless! These role play activities give them the opportunity to experience “grown-up life”. Taking a step out of their reality is a fun way for them to explore their passions and interests!

Bonding Time

Imaginary play opens many doors for your child, including new friends. It is more than likely that one of your child’s favorite imaginary games is playing “house”. In order to play house, you need a handful of people such as parents, children, dogs, and even grandparents! Your child will learn how to interact more with kids their age and understand basic social skills. It’s important that you introduce your kiddos to other preschoolers their age. Those relationships are priceless and can sometimes result in lifetime friends.

Mommy’s Problem Solver

Problem solving is one of the best benefits of imaginary play. Your child can learn how to solve conflict as they navigate their little fantasy world. For example, your little one may play a game of “Chef” and experience a busy rush of customers. They will have to figure out how to cater properly to their guests and run their kitchen well. This is just one example of how your child can learn from imaginary play.
