Making Healthy Halloween Treats with Preschoolers

Making Healthy Halloween Treats with Preschoolers at Kids 'R' Kids North Sugar Land, preschool, daycare, childcare, learning academy

When we think of Halloween, of course we think of candy! However, preschool is a great age to teach your child early that Halloween isn’t just about the sweets—here are some healthy Halloween treats that your kiddos will love, possibly more than candy!

Colby Jack-o-lanterns

Does your little one love grilled cheese? Surprise them for lunch with this twist on a classic sandwich. Carefully cut your jack-o-lantern face out of the bread and make your grilled cheese like normal—this meal is almost too cute to eat.

Spiders on a log

This is a spooky twist to the popular treat, “Ants on a Log.” Simply replace the raisins with fake spiders and add them to a peanut butter covered celery stalk! This makes for a fun and healthy Halloween snack–umm, don’t eat the spiders! Eek!

Pumpkin veggie tray

Pumpkins are orange, but so are carrots! At your next Halloween party, ditch the candy corn for a tray of fresh, clean carrots. Place the carrot slices (or baby carrots) into a pumpkin shape on the tray, add raisins in strategic spots to form the eyes and the mouth! Irresistibly cute!

Banana ghosts

Simple and adorable, just peel some bananas and use mini chocolate chips to make a tiny ghost face. Spooktacular!

Spider crackers

Your kiddos will love making these spider treats. Gather some Ritz crackers, pretzels, peanut butter (or cream cheese as an allergy-friendly alternative) and some raisins.  Cover a cracker with peanut butter. Press pretzel sticks into the peanut butter to form legs. Add raisins for the eyes and you’ve created a monster!
