When it comes to holidays, most parents know how to entertain their preschoolers on days like Halloween and Christmas. However, when the Fourth of July comes around right in the middle of summer vacation, many are left at a loss trying to fill the day with fun activities worthy of a national holiday. Here are some activities even your youngest children will enjoy and get in the Fourth of July Spirit!
Play Patriotic Games
Get your little ones excited about the Fourth of July by starting the day off with a game! Put a twist on a classic game, like pin the stars and stripes on the flag, or pin the hat on Uncle Sam.
Arts and Crafts
Bringing out your kiddo’s crafty side is a great way to have some fun while beating the heat. Try a craft like making popsicle stick flags, or even red, white, and blue wreaths.
Bake Festive Treats
Time in the kitchen not only makes for great memories, but you get to eat your delicious creations! Bake some sugar cookies and then let your kids go crazy with some red, white, and blue icing and sprinkles.
Watch Fireworks
A Fourth of July classic, fireworks are a must for little kids to get the whole experience. Grab a picnic blanket, cook out, or watch from the truck bed with some ice cream – whichever way you watch fireworks with your family, just have a good time! If your little ones are easily frightened by loud noises, try making a game out of it by having them guess what color is coming next, or bring some noise-canceling headphones just in case.
You should never miss an opportunity to teach your kids something – so tell them all about the Fourth of July! In the midst of your fun and busy day, sit your kids down and teach them about the Declaration of Independence and what freedom means to you and your family.
