Indoor Activities for Preschoolers

Indoor Activities for Preschoolers at Kids 'R' Kids Medlock Bridge, preschool, daycare, childcare

While the wintertime is filled with beautiful things like snow, sledding, campfires, and more, it’s also filled with times of staying inside where it’s warm and cozy. If your preschooler has a hard time staying indoors, here are some great winter activities that’ll keep your child happy while staying out of the cold.

Bake Away the Time!

With winter comes endless recipes for deliciousness—from pecan pie to Christmas cookies or gingerbread houses, you’ll never run out of things to bake. Teach your preschooler a family recipe, or find something new online to try out together. Something that never gets old is decorating sugar cookies! Grab some red and green icing and let your kiddos decorate to their hearts’ content—just make sure the cookies have cooled first!

Get Crafty

Whether you have glitter glue galore or just some paper and crayons, you’d be amazed at what your preschooler can come up with if you let their creative sides run free! Have a winter-themed craft day and design your own ornaments!

Holiday Movie Marathon

Pop some popcorn and spend some quality time with your family sharing your favorite holiday movies. Just because you’ve seen Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer about one hundred times doesn’t mean your little one has!

Read a Holiday Book

Just because your preschooler is on holiday break doesn’t mean they have to stop flexing their reading muscles! Grab a holiday book and read it with your kiddo—this could become a favorite family tradition every year.

Make a pillow fort

If there’s one universal truth of indoor play, it’s that kids love pillow forts. So collect some pillows and blankets and spend the day creating a fantastic fort. Your little ones will forget all about the wonders of the outdoors and will want to stay in their fort forever. (Just make sure to have them help clean up before dinner time!)

Just because you have to spend some time indoors doesn’t mean you and your preschooler can’t have fun. You may even discover a new family tradition that your children will look forward to every year.
