Preschoolers and Pumpkin Recipes

Preschoolers and Pumpkin Recipes at Kids 'R' Kids Medlock Bridge, preschool, daycare, childcare

No scent quite evokes the fall season and the coming holidays like the spicy fragrance of fresh-baked pumpkin bread or pumpkin pie. You can sample this tasty seasonal favorite with your preschooler by whipping up treats together in the kitchen. Fiber-rich and nutritious, pumpkin can be roasted, boiled, or steamed, and the seeds can be seasoned and roasted to serve as a flavorful snack. Whether you have leftovers or not, the two of you will have a lot of fun in the process!

Petite pies

Gather vanilla wafers, pumpkin filling, and miniature marshmallows to make a super simple and fun variation on pumpkin pie. Your child will have fun layering the wafer, the pumpkin filling, and the marshmallows in a cupcake liner. Bake the petite pies at 350 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes. Enjoy these gooey confections with cold milk or hot tea!

Sweet seeds

Mix a tablespoon each of sugar and vegetable oil together with a teaspoon each of your favorite holiday cookie spices, such as cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice. Your little one can stir a half a cup or more of dried pumpkin seeds into the mix and blend until the seeds are coated evenly. Bake the sweet seeds at 250 degrees, stirring occasionally Once the seeds have browned, let them cool. Pair with some sliced apple for a healthy afternoon snack!

Festive pancakes

For a festive take on an everyday pancake breakfast, add a half a cup of pumpkin puree to your favorite pancake mix. Your child can toss in chocolate chips, as well as a dash or two of your favorite pumpkin spice seasoning. While the pancakes cook, use a high-speed mixer to blend heavy whipping cream with a hint of vanilla and sugar until thick. Enjoy the fruits of your labor together!
