Celebrating Baby’s First Valentine’s Day

Celebrating Baby’s First Valentine’s Day at Kids 'R' Kids Landstar, preschool, daycare, childcare

Valentine’s Day is a time when we express our love for those closest to us. If you’ve had a new addition to your family in the past year, chances are he/she now takes up a large piece of your heart! So, what can you do to celebrate your baby’s first Valentine’s Day? Here are a few suggestions!

First Valentine’s Day Photoshoot

That first year of your baby’s life is full of firsts, and Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to dress your little cupid up in something special and do a photoshoot! You can find special heart themed children’s clothes just about anywhere you shop. Pick a set or two and have them ready from head to toe.

Now set the stage for your photoshoot! You can keep it as simple as a blanket for the background, or as elaborate as a themed background with balloons or other props. It is a good idea to do your photoshoot before Valentine’s Day. That way, if something comes up (your baby messes up the outfit, gets sick, etc.) you can still try again another day.

If taking photos is not up your alley, look around for local photographers or studios where you can book an appointment. These photos will be something for you to treasure always.

Decorate

Get some simple decorations and make your home look festive! Grab some big red hearts or Valentine’s Day themed garlands or vinyl window clings just to make the house look special for that day! Your baby’s eyes will be wide with wonder at the new things to look at.

Get Some Special Valentine’s Day Books

No matter how old your baby is on their first Valentine’s Day, from just born to almost a year old, all babies can benefit from reading! Reading books to children is a fantastic way for them to pick up new language and to bond with their parents as they sit snugly on your lap. Some great board books for babies are Llama, Llama I Love You (Anna Dewdney), Happy Valentine’s Day, Mouse (Laura Numeroff), and Love From the Very Hungry Caterpillar (Eric Carle). These books will become favorites as your baby grows into a preschooler!

However you decide to mark this special first, remember to relax and enjoy it! The days are fleeting so take the time to make some memories together!
