Children’s Books for Independence Day

Children’s Books for Independence Day at Kids 'R' Kids Landstar, preschool, daycare, childcare

The Fourth of July brings lots of excitement and activity. As our nation celebrates its birthday, it can bring many fun adventures for a preschooler and an opportunity for parents to provide understanding on what all the excitement means. A fun way to do that is through reading books that explain what is about to happen.

Curious George Parade Day  by H.A. Rey

Curious George is excited for the parade to begin; however, before it can, he finds himself in plenty of trouble. It is fun to see how Curious George navigates the excitement. He even manages to save the parade after creating a problem. This is a very simple book for younger preschoolers.

The Night Before the Fourth of July  by Natasha Wing

A fun book that is a spin off of the well-known poem “Twas the Night Before Christmas.” The book walks with a family as they prepare for the Fourth of July. They celebrate the day with a parade, barbecue, and fireworks.

Eloise and the Big Parade  by Lisa McClatchy

Eloise is going to attend a parade with her Nana. Eloise has a grand time using her imagination while watching different floats and attractions of the parade. This book is an easy reader that younger and older preschoolers may enjoy listening to.

America: A Patriotic Primer  by Lynn Cheney and A Is for America: A Patriotic Alphabet Book  by Tanya Lee Stone

These are two enjoyable books that walk your preschooler through the alphabet while discussing different aspects of our nation. F is for Flag by Wendy Cheyette Lewison is another alphabet book that specifically is about the American flag.

There are a variety of books that cover the topic of the Fourth of July. Some are board books, and others are picture books. There are books for younger preschoolers as well as more advanced preschoolers. Some books specifically address the festivities the fourth brings; whereas, others address pieces of our American symbolism. All can be very useful in learning more about our nation’s birthday.

If you enjoyed this blog, please take a look at our school’s blog page. There you will find blogs on a wide variety of topics that we believe will be beneficial to you and your family.
