How to Keep Your Preschooler Learning All Summer

How to Keep Your Preschooler Learning All Summer at Kids 'R' Kids Kings River, daycare, childcare, preschool

During the summer, children can lose the equivalent of up to two months of learning. Keep your preschooler’s mind growing all summer with these activities.

Play Counting Games

To get your little ones thinking about numbers in everyday situations, play some games that incorporate counting into their routines. This can be as simple as having them count how many red cars they see on the drive to the store, or making a puzzle that is numerically-organized.

Have Fun in the Kitchen

There’s a lot of natural science and math that comes into play in the kitchen, and you can make some yummy treats while teaching your child how to mix and measure different ingredients. Count along with them as you incorporate eggs, and teach them about how things work as you go. They’ll absorb more than you realize!

Work on Summer Reading

During the school year, your youngster is continually working on their reading skills. It’s important to keep this up at home, as well. Ask your child’s school for a list of recommended age-appropriate books to read throughout the summer. You can even pick out a captivating chapter book and read it to your little one each night before bed. With these ideas, you’ll be entertained and educated all summer long!
