Fun Activities to Do Inside with Your Preschooler

Fun Activities to Do Inside with Your Preschooler at Kids 'R' Kids Kings River, preschool, daycare, childcare, learning academy

Indoor play dates can be a lot of fun, and there are so many other things to do with your preschool child besides turning on a movie and consuming more media. Check out these four activity ideas that can be done inside with no electricity required.

Read books.

Read books and draw pictures of the characters and storyline. You can essentially have your little one draw a book report of the books that you read together. Some kids listen better when their hands are busy with a project, so if your preschooler is like this, give him paper and crayons to draw out the things that they’re hearing you read.

Play hide-and-go-seek.

If you play with your children, they will have a blast. If need be, mark off specific hiding territory in the house to keep it safe, and then run and hide! You can keep the lights off and make it even more fun to play.

Play board games.

Pull out the board games and cards because there are so many games that every preschoolers can learn to play. Chutes and Ladders or Go Fish are two games that were made for all ages. You can also teach them how to play Tic-Tac-Toe, and they will use this game to begin learning strategy and analytical skills from a young age.

Build forts.

Build blanket forts, and play I Spy together as you listen to the rain pour outside. Blanket forts are fun for all ages, and I Spy is a game that can be used to strengthen color recognition and processing skills in children.

Try these indoor activities before you resort to movies and video games to keep them occupied during those long dreary days. Always remember that it’s perfectly fine to send your little ones out in the rain if they have the proper clothing to puddle jump in the yard. If the energy levels get a little too high, put on the rubber boots and trench coats and go outside to sing in the rain!
