Developing a relationship with the teachers that are investing into your child’s education is a great way to make sure that your preschooler is getting all that they need in their young years. Here are some ways that you can help your teacher as they help your child:
Stay involved with any material that your child may bring home. Even if it’s just a picture that they have drawn, take it out and hang it up on the fridge to show your child that you support the efforts that they’re putting into learning. Be proud of all of their accomplishments!
Appreciate your teachers all year round. Show that you care through kind words and small gifts throughout the semester. A little bit of kindness can go a long way!
Communicate. Get to know your teachers. Let them know any important information at the beginning of the day. Is little Johnny having a bad day? Knowing the reason why can help them to make sure that the rest of their day is better. Ask how the day went, and be willing to discuss anything that they mention. Communication is key for any relationship.
Reinforce learning in real life. Sing through the ABCs with your child, read to them plenty of good books, and teach them fun learning songs that could benefit their learning at school.
Overall, a positive attitude and an effort to stay involved and show your interest in the well-being of your child are the most important things you can do. Don’t forget to slow down and take the time to enjoy this phase of life as your little one is learning more and more about the world around them.
