Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) is an incredible resource for young children and parents in Florida. According to research conducted by the National Institute Of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), early childhood education plays a critical role in your child’s learning and life outcome. As a Florida resident, you have the opportunity to set your child up for success by enrolling them in a Free VPK program! Your little one qualifies to attend a VPK program this year if they turn four on or before September 1st.

Four-year-olds have a boundless need to develop new skills and absorb new information. At Kids ‘R Kids Avalon Park, we meet that need through our whole-child approach. Our approach helps children flourish cognitively, behaviorally, emotionally, socially, and physically through a combination of independent and group activities. In addition, our activities teach students to apply thought, imagination, and creativity to real-life problems and situations.
Educational Expectations for VPK
In our care, your child will learn:
- Word concepts
- Letter concepts
- Foundational math skills
- Scientific inquiry
Along with these central academic and literacy skills, they will learn to participate in structured routines and have healthy social interactions with their peers.
Our graduating students have an easy transition to kindergarten. Our module-themed, standards-driven curriculum has been approved by the state. Our VPK program not only meets the State of Florida’s standards, but we also exceed them. The majority of our former students test higher than their peers throughout their early elementary school years.
Starting a VPK program can be difficult for kids, especially after spending so much time at home this last year. However, creating a consistent morning routine, sending a comforting object with them to school, and saying a prompt goodbye can help your child adjust to their new routine. If your little one continues to struggle after the first week, let their teacher know. We have many strategies to help children adjust to school, such as giving them a particular task or creating a special routine for them each morning at school. We want your child to feel safe and secure in our care.
