Preschool Games In & Out of a Classroom

Preschool in East Orlando FL

Preschool programs provide young children with an introduction to the classroom environment. Children who have yet to start Kindergarten are given the opportunity to learn critical social skills and imperative education lessons in a structured, yet informal environment. The Kids ‘R’ Kids Avalon Park educators have often discussed the importance of play in learning and there has been plenty of research which proves that a love for learning fostered in a preschool environment can help ensure a lifetime of successful schooling. By giving young students a comfortable and nurturing environment guided by skilled teachers and plenty of learning activities that are play based, preschool should be a strong consideration for parents of children under 5.

Research studies have shown that children in this age group learn best through the process of play. Most preschool curriculums, including our programs at our Avalon Park campus, tend to be play based, including the use of preschool games. Skillful preschool teachers are good at presenting lessons like counting & letter recognition in an enjoyable, participatory manner that motivates children to learn without intimidating them. Teachers of young students understand the importance of introducing language, mathematics, and social skills at a young age and including games as a way to present these new ideas gives children a fun and entertaining way to understand these concepts.

Whether it’s reading games to help foster a love of reading, physical play to develop gross motor skills, or pretend play to encourage creative thinking, savvy preschool programs will incorporate these fun activities into their lesson plans to help spark interest while still teaching the necessary fundamentals.

While preschool games in the classroom are an effective learning tool, preschool games at home can help children gain a sense of accomplishment & self-confidence that adds to the school-home balance. Including fun games into daily activities such as getting dressed, helping with dinner, and bath time can build a foundation of analytic thought and creativity. Make a game of your morning routine by asking your child to find clothing of a certain color to wear to school. Have them count out 10 grapes or carrots for their snack or count out the number of forks your family will need at dinner. At bath time, children can make a game of washing their body parts with a fun game of Simon Says. There are plenty of ways to incorporate learning into their daily activities and using preschool games is a great start.
