Fun Ways to Say Farewell to Summer with Your Preschooler

Saying farewell to summer can be a sad and difficult task.  Why not have some fun with your preschooler when bidding summer farewell?

Fun Ways to Say Farewell to Summer with Your Preschooler at Kids 'R' Kids the Woodlands, preschool, daycare, childcareYes Day

Surprise your preschooler with a “Yes Day.” The rule of a Yes Day is that you are not allowed to tell your preschooler no (within reason). You will need to set boundaries of a budget or travel distance, so your preschooler doesn’t request a trip across the country to visit his favorite theme park.  It is also a good idea to remind your preschooler that the Yes Day only lasts for a day and he cannot request anything that will cause harm to anyone or anyone’s property. For more information on how to host a “Yes” Day for your preschoolers, check out this blog.

Campout

Grab a tent, sleeping bags, and the ingredients for s’mores and camp out in the backyard with your preschooler. Invite a friend or two to spend the night or enjoy the night with just your preschooler. Spend the night enjoying storytelling, playing games, and roasting marshmallows.  If camping in your backyard isn’t possible, pitch a tent in the living room!

Neighborhood Party

Talk to other parents in the neighborhood and plan a fun get-together with the neighborhood kids. Work with other parents to plan fun games for the children to play and a fun craft as a keepsake to remember the event. If planning a variety of games seems too daunting, plan a group game, such as baseball where parents versus kids. If you don’t live in a neighborhood where hosting a get-together is an option, get a group of your preschooler’s friends together and spend the day at the pool. Your preschooler will have fun playing with their friends, while you get a chance to catch up with the other parents.

Go on a Date

Take your preschooler on a date to celebrate the end of summer. Let them choose the activities and spend the day soaking up the time you have with them and creating memories. Your preschooler is sure to enjoy the special time with his favorite adult!
