Everyone loves the holiday season, but most of us would agree it can be stressful! Check out these tips to help have a stress-free holiday and to truly enjoy time with our preschoolers and other loved ones.
Trim the To-Do List
Take a good look at your to-do list and get rid of the things that don’t have to be done and don’t bring you joy!
Reduce Your Gift List
Think about ways to cut down on the number of gifts to buy. Suggest your extended family draws names and only buys a gift for one person instead of ten! Instead of doing a gift exchange with a group of friends, opt to all go out for a nice lunch together or make a donation together to your favorite charity.
Buy Instead of Bake
Don’t try to make all the holiday dishes homemade! Pick your favorites to make and outsource the others to guests, the grocery store, or a local bakery.
Cut Down on Décor
Holiday decorating takes up a lot of time because you must put it up and then take it down! To save time, be selective about the décor you put up. Pick decorations that are meaningful to your family, such as the Christmas tree or advent calendar. Leave the other, less meaningful decorations in their bins.
Use Paper or Dishwasher-Safe
Many people use fine china for holiday meals and parties, but it can’t be put in the dishwasher! Use disposable or dishwasher-safe dishes this season so you aren’t stuck handwashing so many dishes. Your guests won’t care, and it will free you up to spend more time with them.
Consider Staying Home
For most families, the holidays mean traveling! Consider staying home this holiday season or even having a staycation. You’ll save time and money by opting to stay in town and you can enjoy the extra down time to relax with your immediate family.
